BJP issues 'Modiji assurance' manifesto, Congress calls it apology

Prime Minister Modi and senior BJP leaders release the party’s manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party this morning released its much-awaited manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on ‘GYAN’ (poor, youth, farmers and women). As the bust of BR Ambedkar and the Constitution took the stage, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda The party’s manifesto was launched at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

The Prime Minister said the manifesto focuses on the four pillars of ‘Viksit Bharat’ – women empowerment, youth empowerment, farmers and poor. He said the focus was on “dignity of life” and “quality of life,” that is, the quantity and quality of opportunities. The Prime Minister said the government will focus on providing piped gas to all households and providing free electricity through solar energy.

The free ration scheme of the Center will be extended for five years, the manifesto said. The government said it will focus on self-reliance in pulses, edible oil and vegetable production to stabilize prices and protect the plates of the poor. The Ayushman Bharat Scheme and Prime Minister Awas Yojana will expand the scope and provide drinking water to every household, the statement said.

For farmers, the BJP manifesto stated that it will continue to provide annual assistance of Rs 6,000 and will strengthen the crop insurance scheme through the use of technology. The government will continue to regularly increase minimum support prices for crops, set up new production clusters of essential commodities and build more storage facilities, the document said.

Addressing the media, Nadda outlined the achievements of the BJP government during its last decade in power. He reiterated that the “Modi Assurance” – the BJP’s key poll slogan – “is an assurance that all assurances will be fulfilled”.

Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, the BJP president said that while developed countries have wavered between prioritizing the economy and the health of their citizens, the Narendra Modi government’s decisive measures have helped India recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recover. He also said that India developed two vaccines and 2.2 billion doses in nine months and helped transport vaccines to other countries.

Next to speak was Defense Minister Manmohan Singh, who also chairs the 27-member committee that drafted the declaration.

Singh said the promises made by the BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls have been fulfilled. “What we say, we do,” he said, citing the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as its major achievements.

Singh said the BJP’s manifesto was formulated on the basis of 1.5 million suggestions from across the country and presented a roadmap for Viksit Bharat while focusing on social justice. “Modi’s pledge is considered like 24 karat gold and therefore our manifesto is the gold standard for manifestos of political parties across the world,” he said.

The BJP also invited several beneficiaries of the Centre’s welfare schemes and felicitated them.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera gave a sharp response to the BJP’s manifesto, saying it should be called “Sankalp Patra” and not “maafinama” – an apology. “In 2014, they said they would form a task force to bring back black money, but what they brought was electoral bonds. China is not building smart cities in the government, but building smart cities within our borders,” he said .

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said it was the policy of the BJP to lie loudly and make people believe it was the truth. She said the BJP’s manifesto did not even mention the ethnic violence in Manipur and the protests in Ladakh.
