Bengaluru, Oct 28 (IANS) The Karnataka unit of the BJP on Tuesday welcomed the interim stay issued by the Dharwad bench of the High Court on the Congress-led state government’s recent order mandating prior approval from authorities for organizing events at public and state-owned places.
Union Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, while addressing X, said: “The conspiracy of the state government against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is against the Constitution.”
Joshi further said, “The Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court has stayed the state government order which made it mandatory for private organizations to take prior permission to organize events in government premises. The court has stayed the government order, which specifically targeted the activities of the RSS. This is a warning lesson to the Congress government, which follows unconstitutional policies. The Congress government should maintain the basic principles and He should be respected.” Constitution.”
BJP state president and MLA BY Vijayendra, reacting to the developments in Bengaluru, said, “The conspiracy and cunning move of the state government has been stopped by the court. This development is a blow to the Congress-led government in Karnataka and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.”
He asserted, “Minister Priyank Kharge has been talking about banning RSS for the last few weeks and has also raised other issues related to the organization. After this decision of the High Court, the state government will now have to remain silent. With today’s decision, justice has prevailed.”
BJP MLC CT Ravi said the executive, judiciary and legislature are interconnected through the Constitution, which ensures checks and balances.
“All three pillars of democracy work within the framework of the Constitution. If anything goes against it, it is the duty of the judiciary to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens. Today’s court order has upheld the Constitution,” he said.
In a blow to the Congress-led government in Karnataka, the Dharwad bench of the High Court on Tuesday put an interim stay on the government order requiring prior approval from authorities to organize events at public and state-owned places.
The government had recently issued the order following a letter by RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to ban RSS activities in public places and government-owned premises across the state. The move had sparked a political controversy and led to heated exchanges between Congress and BJP leaders.
A bench headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna passed the interim order. The writ petition was filed by Pashchachetna Seva Sansthan, an NGO, challenging the validity of the order. The petition argued that the directive – which considers gatherings of more than 10 people illegal and mandates prior permission from authorities for holding foot marches or public events – is unconstitutional.
