Bengaluru, Oct 24 (IANS) Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Friday alleged that the law and order situation in Karnataka has completely collapsed under the Congress-led government.
Addressing the media at the BJP office here, he said, “Yesterday, seven people broke into a house and raped a woman – they were later arrested. If there was any fear of law or police, would such an incident have happened?”
He cited other incidents alleging a pattern of administrative failure. Taking aim at minister Priyank Kharge, he said, “During Dussehra, a nomadic woman came to Mysuru to sell balloons. An 8-9 year old girl was raped and murdered – no one was punished. They were from Kalaburagi, but the minister in-charge did not even inquire about the incident.”
He further said, “An 11-year-old Dalit girl was raped and murdered in Vijayapura. Yet no one raised voice. The Congress government is turning a blind eye.”
Narayanaswami also criticized the government over unpaid employees. “Anganwadi workers have not been paid for three months. Librarians have not received salaries for 20 months. In Sedam, a mother took her own life as she was unable to run her household. In Chamarajanagar, a water worker committed suicide after not receiving her salary for 27 months.”
He claimed that citizens have lost faith in the administration. He commented, “Ever since the Congress government came to power, misfortune has befallen the state. The people are angry and disappointed.”
He also targeted the condition of the roads. He said, “There is not a single road in Bengaluru which does not have potholes. Pregnant women are unable to reach hospitals and give birth on the way.” He said that the hospital staff are also disappointed.
Accusing the Congress of diverting public attention, he said, “You won 136 seats. Where do you talk about vote theft? You raise different issues only to hide your failures.”
Narayanaswami also mocked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, saying, “The Chief Minister does not even know the difference between Amavasya and Purnima. For this government, it seems that Amavasya has covered the state in darkness.”
