BJP candidate to oppose Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, 242 cases registered against him

Kochi, Kerala:

BJP state president K Surendran, who is also the NDA candidate contesting from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, has 242 criminal cases against him.

As part of the statutory requirement, Surendran recently published three full pages of details of the case in the party mouthpiece.

Similarly, the saffron party’s Ernakulam constituency candidate KS Radhakrishnan also has around 211 cases registered against him.

“Most of the cases are related to the Sabarimala protests held in 2018. Most of the cases are in the courts. When political party leaders call for a strike or protest, the police register a case,” George Kurian Kurian) said. BJP state secretary told PTI.

Elaborating on the number of cases against the BJP state president, Kurian said 237 of them were related to the Sabarimala protests and five cases were related to various riots in Kerala.

The BJP and its affiliated parties had organized protests across the state in 2018 against the Kerala government’s decision to implement the Supreme Court order on women’s entry into the hilltop Sabarimala shrine in Pathanamthitta district.

Details of the cases against candidates from other parties have not yet been released.

The last date for filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections is April 4. The review will take place on April 5, while the last date to withdraw nominations is April 8.

As of today, the Election Commission has received 18 nominations. Mukesh, the Left candidate from Cologne, and Ashwini ML, the BJP candidate from Kasaragod, are among the prominent names who have filed their nominations.
