BJP can score two points only if there are two zeros in Kerala: Shashi Tharoor

Thiruvananthapuram:

Arguing that the BJP’s vote share in Kerala has reached its saturation point, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday dismissed the possibility of the party doing better in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“I am afraid the only way they can score two points is two zeros,” Tharoor said. The issue with the BJP is that they do not understand the history and culture of Kerala. Communalism cannot go beyond a small limit here. Is.” News agency ANI.

“I give credit to Narendra Modi for taking a party with 6 per cent to a party with 12-13 per cent, but that’s it. The limit has been crossed. We know he tried to reach out to the Christian community, but Manipur After the horrors of this, it won’t work,” he said.

The BJP is busy wooing the Christian community, with the Prime Minister himself meeting Christian religious leaders from the state several times in both Delhi and Kerala during his visit.

The Christian community has a significant presence in the central Travancore region of the state, and their vote is said to be crucial to victory in any constituency there.

Talking about his candidature in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Tharoor said, “The Congress party has not announced any candidature yet nor has it told any of us that we will not contest the elections. I I am also working as a sitting MP.” I have responsibilities towards my constituency, which I am fulfilling now.”

Recently reacting to the crisis facing the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh following cross-voting by some Congress MLAs in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Tharoor said the political development there was “disappointing”.

“It is indeed a disappointing development in a democracy that a government elected with a 40-25 clear majority less than a year ago can be undemocratically dismantled in this manner. We know that the BJP has very well But this is misuse of both money and muscle power by the BJP,” Mr Tharoor asserted.

Asked about the ongoing political turmoil within Himachal Pradesh’s Congress unit, Mr Tharoor said, “I am waiting for more information. I can’t comment other than what I have read in the headlines , where I feel it is a betrayal of the people’s mandate.” “BJP does something like this every time. In the past, they have done this in 4-5 states. This is a real attack on democracy,” he said.

Cross-voting by six Congress MLAs for the sole Rajya Sabha seat and resignation of Vikramaditya Singh from the Council of Ministers plunged the Sukhu-led government in the hill state into crisis.

The sequence of events exposed the rift within the ruling party, with the BJP claiming that the Congress has lost the moral standing to remain in power after losing majority in the Assembly.

The BJP said the Rajya Sabha results show that the Sukhu-led Congress government has lost its majority, while the CM claimed to retain power with a majority.

Opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur had earlier said that the state Chief Minister should resign from his post on moral grounds.

“Congress does not have the majority, and they cannot pass the budget, so they suspended 15 BJP MLAs without any reason. They will try to pass the budget now, but it will be against the rules. If they (CM Sukhu) has also done this, if there is even a little bit of morality left then he should resign…”

He further said that Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania’s action of suspending 15 BJP MLAs is ‘condemnable’.
