Billie Eilish opens up about identity crisis after blonde transformation

Billie Eilish famously dyed her hair blonde in 2021 happier than ever Era – A significant departure from her trademark vibrantly dyed hair.

But the young musician, now 22, revealed that she was actually going through an identity crisis at the time.

in an interview with Rolling stone Published on Wednesday, April 24, Eilish opened up about her hair makeover, which broke the internet after she debuted her new look in an Instagram post.

“And then I dyed my hair blonde and I was immediately like, ‘Oh, I don’t know who I am,'” she recalls.

In addition to changing her hair, Eilish also changed her tousled, covered-up style for a softer, more feminine look. A few months later, she made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala with her icy blonde hair and a peach tulle Oscar de la Renta corset ball gown.

Speaking to Keke Palmer on the red carpet, Eilish expressed, “It’s time now, and I feel like I’ve grown a lot over the years.”

She further added, “I always wanted to do this. I was just scared and not comfortable in my own skin and I feel like I finally felt that way.”

However, despite the softer, jazzier vibe of her sophomore album happier than everThe new look ultimately felt like too much of a deviation from Eilish’s real self.

Eilish’s brother Finneas O’Connell said of the record, “In a strange way, it was like being in a tornado basement, reading a lovely story. It was an album’s coping mechanism.
