Bihar man identified as Haldwani riots victim killed by police for having extramarital affair with wife

Uttarakhand police on Thursday revealed that a 25-year-old man, initially identified as a victim of the February 8 Haldwani riots, was killed by a police constable.

according to a report toyThe victim, Prakash Kumar, who hailed from Sinha village in Balhara block of Bihar’s Bhojpur district, was reportedly murdered by constable Birendra Singh. The incident occurred after Singh discovered Kumar was having an extramarital affair with his wife and learned he was blackmailing her with “intimate videos” they had recorded together.

Nainital senior police officer Prahlad Meena told the publication that Singh planned Kumar’s murder along with four accomplices, including his wife and brother-in-law.

Meena further stated that the unraveling of the conspiracy was facilitated by the examination of Kumar’s phone records, which were retrieved from his body during the investigation.

“Kumar’s communication history revealed that he frequently spoke to a person in Sitaganj, Udham Singh Nagar district. We traced him and identified him as Suraj Bain, Singh’s brother-in-law. During interrogation , Bain told the police that he and Kumar were friends for over two years and the latter often visited his home,” Nainital SSP told toy.

After discovering the compromising video involving his wife Priyanka and Kumar, Singh did not disclose the news until February 7 and instructed Priyanka to call him on February 8. Varney.

Meena added, “Singh confronted Kumar about the video upon his arrival, which led to Kumar’s murder as part of a premeditated plan involving his wife Priyanka, brother-in-law Bain, and The other two are Prem Singh and Naeem Khan.”

Singh strategically disposed of Kumar’s body in Banpurpura area to make it look like a victim of the ongoing violence in Haldwani. Following the revelations, the death toll in the violence has now been revised to five.

“Priyanka is currently evading arrest. All the accused are facing murder charges under IPC section 302,” Nainital SSP said.

At least 100 people were injured and 30 arrested in the riots that followed the demolition of an “illegally constructed” madrasa in Haldwani, Uttarakhand.
