Patna, October 24 (IANS) As a fierce political battle is being prepared between the NDA and the India faction in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the election campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state on Friday by offering floral tributes at Samastipur, the birthplace of Bharat Ratna late Karpoori Thakur.
Prime Minister Modi is also set to address two huge public rallies in the poll-bound state, one of which will begin at 12:15 pm in Samastipur and the other at 2 pm in Begusarai.
Karpoori Thakur, who was the Chief Minister of Bihar in the 1970s, was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government this year.
These rallies of PM Modi are considered important events in the election campaign of BJP in Bihar for the upcoming assembly elections.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also set to lead the BJP’s campaign with four mega rallies across Bihar on Friday.
During his address, PM Modi is expected to urge voters to support the NDA candidates and send a strong message to the opposition Indian faction.
PM Modi’s upcoming visit is his first election appearance in Bihar since the announcement of election dates.
He is scheduled to visit the state twice in October – first on October 24 and then on October 30, when he will address public meetings in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also hold two big election rallies on Friday – one in Siwan and the other in Buxar.
This will be Union Minister Shah’s second visit to Bihar in a week, after his first three-day visit from October 16 to 18, during which he addressed a rally in Taraiya (Chhapra).
The BJP state leadership has completed all preparations for the high-profile visits of both PM Modi and Amit Shah, with local units activated to ensure massive public attendance.
The rallies of PM Modi and Amit Shah are expected to raise the political temperature in the state and provide energy to the NDA campaign.
Meanwhile, the Grand Alliance (Grand Alliance) is also preparing for an aggressive campaign.
Karpoori Thakur, a prominent socialist leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar, is remembered for his dedication towards social justice and upliftment of marginalized communities. His policies, including reservations for backward classes, have had a lasting impact on the state.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition in Bihar, and said the people of the state will not forget the era of ‘Jungle Raj’ for the next 100 years.
He said that no matter how much the opposition tries to hide its past mistakes, the public will never forgive them.
The Prime Minister’s comments came on a day when the Grand Alliance declared Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
PM Modi termed the opposition grouping as “Lathbandhan” and not “grand alliance” and said almost all its key leaders – from Delhi to Bihar – are out on bail.
Addressing BJP workers during the “Mera Booth Sabse Shakti Yuva Samvad” program through audio conferencing, the Prime Minister urged them to remind the youth of Bihar about the dark days of Jungle Raj.
PM Modi said, “Gather the youth at every booth and invite the elders of the area to share stories of the atrocities that happened during that era. The people of Bihar should never forget those days.”
Highlighting the progress made during the tenure of the NDA government in Bihar, the Prime Minister said that the state is experiencing rapid development today due to stable governments both at the Center and in the state.
“Hospitals are being built, schools are being built and new railway lines are being laid. This progress is the result of stability and good governance,” he said.
PM Modi said that the youth of Bihar are now confident and optimistic about the future of the state, adding that Bihar has gained momentum under the rule of the NDA government.
Concluding his address on Thursday, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that a new era of women empowerment will begin in Bihar on November 14, when the BJP-led NDA returns to power.
