'Big impact of PM Modi's visit to the island': Lakshadweep tourism official

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep in January triggered a chain reaction, with tourism official Imthias Mohammed TB confirming an increase in inquiries to the island region.

When asked about the impact of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, Imtiaz told ANI, “The impact has been huge and we have received a lot of inquiries.”

He further mentioned that Lakshadweep is receiving inquiries from the domestic tourism sector as well as the international tourism market.

Talking about future initiatives in the tourism sector, he said, “Lakshadweep seeks to promote the development of more cruise lines.”

On the issue of connectivity to mainland India as few airlines operate from Lakshadweep, he hoped that when air connectivity is streamlined, it will increase the influx of tourists.

Meanwhile, Aman Singh, a tourist from Mumbai, said, “We have wanted to visit Lakshadweep for a long time but there are many myths associated with the island, but Prime Minister Modi’s visit has made an impact. We might go.”

Another tourist from Delhi, Sumit Anand, said he had always wanted to visit Lakshadweep but made the islands his next destination after seeing Prime Minister Modi’s photos and videos land.

Earlier on January 4, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep has drawn global attention to the islands and its huge tourism potential.

The Ministry of External Affairs said: “By visiting Lakshadweep, Prime Minister @narendramodi has focused on its huge tourism potential. This is a huge inspiration for all of us. More tourists will do a lot for the prosperity of Lakshadweep Contribute. They will also experience its unique culture and traditions,” the minister posted via his official X account.
