Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav is nursing a groin injury and the Delhi Capitals management has advised him to rest as a precautionary measure in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The 29-year-old left-arm spinner ran into trouble after DC’s second match of the season against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, which the team lost. The player was forced to miss the next few matches and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma returned to the lineup.

When asked about Kuldeep’s condition, an IPL source told PTI: “It will take some time for him to adapt to the game.”

Since he is a central contract player and a T20 World Cup hopeful, the National Cricket Academy’s sports science and medical teams will have a big say in Kuldeep’s injury and rehabilitation management.

Teams are required to report issues and injuries to Indian players to the NCA.

Although he has been with the team for all the matches, his availability for Sunday’s match against Mumbai Indians in DC remains doubtful.

Kuldeep took three wickets in two games with an economy rate of 7.62.

He has been on a wicket-taking spree and was impressive in the five-match Test series against England that ended last month, taking 19 wickets at an average of 20.15 in four matches.
