Beyoncé’s country music work welcomed by Caryn Carter

Karyn Carter supports Beyonce’s ‘Cowboy Carter’

Karyn Carter warmly welcomed Beyoncé into the world of country music on Friday, calling the singer a “Carter girl.”

Carter, the daughter of country star June Carter Cash and a star herself, said: “I’ve heard some negative things about the Beyoncé album release. Cowboy Carterher new country album,” according to type.

She added, “As a Carter girl myself, and from a family of Carter girls, I’m moved to ask why would anyone treat a Carter girl like this?”

“She’s a very talented and creative woman and she obviously wanted to do this because she loved country music and in my book she’s one of those us Carter women who always try to do what we feel inside to any music and draw from the spirit to push the boundaries. Driven by risk,” Carter said.

Mother Maybelle Carter and the Carter family recorded some of the first country music in the 1920s. Known as the “First Family of Country Music,” the family grew with the marriage of June Carter to Johnny Cash.

“I’m here to let Beyoncé and all the naysayers know that I admire and love her and everything she does,” Carter wrote.

“I’m glad to know that Carter’s courage lies within her, just as we at Carter’s have chosen to follow our hearts for nearly 100 years, hearts filled with a love of not just country music, but all kinds of music.”

She concluded: “A warm welcome to the Carter Girls Club! It’s only a matter of time before those naysayers become naysayers.”
