people are sleeping Internet-Able Beds woke up after a major technical glitch took most of the web offline.
Snapchat, Duolingo, Roblox and others went offline due to technical issues on Monday Amazon Web ServicesWhich provides the infrastructure that powers most of the Internet.
But these issues also doomed At Sleep, a maker of internet-enabled mattresses.
Users woke up to find that their beds were becoming uncomfortably hot or cold as they were unable to check the company’s online services.
Others found that they were unable to change the angle of their bed and thus left their bed tilted, preventing them from sleeping.
At Sleep chief executive Matteo Franceschetti apologized to users for any disruption to their sleep. “This is not the experience we want to provide and I want to apologize for it.”
He added that the company will be “working on outage-proofing your pod experience and we will be working 24/7 tonight until it is done”.
But the problems led to several comments pointing out that a bed that is unable to provide a comfortable sleep experience without a connection to the internet seems unnecessary.
