“Unfortunately, the threat of terrorism in its many and varied manifestations is an ever-present threat in the 21st century world,” Rowley was quoted as saying by the Trinidad Daily Express.

Rowley did not name any organization but reports here say that Islamic State has issued this threat through its propaganda medium.

The ICC reacted to the development with a statement assuring preparedness.

“The safety of everyone at the event is our first priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” a spokesperson for the global body said in a statement issued to PTI.

“We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continuously monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure that appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event.” Rowley said there would be “additional efforts in national security preparedness and response readiness” to neutralize the threat.

“Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any possible way, this makes it almost impossible to completely shut down all opportunities,” he said.

“However, to mitigate these threats, we remain alert to a number of threats at the local and regional level and will, alone or together with our intelligence and other security agencies, continue to protect the population in countries and venues throughout the tournament. Working,” he said. Added.

Talking about the development, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told ANI: “As far as threat is concerned, the responsibility of security lies with the security agencies of the country that is hosting the game. Every precaution will be taken. We will take whatever necessary steps are necessary for the safety of players and spectators. We will talk to the agencies responsible for conducting the World Cup.
