The ICC reacted to the development with a statement assuring preparedness.

“The safety of everyone at the event is our first priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” a spokesperson for the global body said in a statement issued to PTI.

“We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continuously monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure that appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event.” Rowley said there would be “additional efforts in national security preparedness and response readiness” to neutralize the threat.

“Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any possible way, this makes it almost impossible to completely shut down all opportunities,” he said.

Talking about the development, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told ANI: “As far as threat is concerned, the responsibility of security lies with the security agencies of the country that is hosting the game.
