SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma is enjoying a breakthrough season so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. After four games, Abhishek has scored 161 runs at an average of 40.25 and has scored over 217 runs. While everyone seemed interested in how Abhishek managed to shoulder the responsibility with the bat, his mentor and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was less than enthusiastic about the Amritsar-born all-rounder. Not satisfied. Abhishek showed imperious touch against CSK on Friday, smashing 37 off just 12 balls. He took Mukesh Choudhary for 27 in the second over and then died off a Deepak Chahar delivery in the next over.

He tried to hit a high ball but it was easily caught by Ravindra Jadeja and the ball cut behind.

While Yuvraj praised Abhishek for his brilliant batting against Chennai Super Kings, he once again criticized the way he was dismissed.

“I’m right behind you kid… good shot again – but bad shot,” Yuvraj captioned a GIF in which a man can be seen chasing another.

After the match against CSK, Abhishek thanked Yuvraj, West Indies great Brian Lara and his father for their help in the match.

“In the bowling, we felt it was a slow wicket. So we wanted to take a strong attack. We have a chance to prepare well before the IPL. We knew it was going to be slow, but if we go against the bowlers, then Not anymore. Because it will be difficult for the bowlers too. Big scores are important but I went with the flow today. Hopefully I can go out next time. It’s all the hard work I put in before. Special thanks to my dad, Yuvi paaji and Brian Lara,” Abhishek said in his post-match speech.

Abhishek’s explosive knocks earned him the Man of the Match award.

SRH climbed to fifth place with 4 points with 2 wins and 2 losses in four games. With the same win-loss ratio, CSK ranks third with 4 points due to a better run rate.
