Audi A6 Avant e-tron to launch in mid-2024: Here’s what to expect

A6 Avant e-tron, audiIndia’s latest electric vehicle (EV), is under development. It was recently seen road testing.

According to Hindustan Times (HT) Auto, the German carmaker had said at the launch of the concept car that about 95 percent of the design of the concept would be seen in the production model.

The production version of the car is expected to be released by the manufacturer in mid-2024. Ahead of its launch, some spy photos of the prototype under testing have surfaced online.

Autoblog’s spy photos seem to confirm that the company was right to essentially retain the concept model’s design in the production model. The final design of the electric wagon incorporates several style cues.

Although the prototype has been largely camouflaged, it is still possible to get a sense of the shape of the electric vehicle (EV). Additionally, after the saloon model, the new A6 Avant e-tron is expected to launch in mid-2024, although Audi has not yet made any official announcement regarding when it will go on sale.

Audi A6 Avant e-tron: Check features, design, engine

According to the spy images, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron’s unique ‘Singleframe’ grille is an enclosed panel that sits between two angular battery cooling vents and split digital matrix LED headlights, below which are located the DRLs and primary units.

Compared to the current model, the Avant appears to have a taller dash-to-axle ratio and a lower, taller profile. Thought and styled lower door panels and trim, along with hockey stick-shaped D-pillars and arching trim pieces above the windows, are included in the final version. As far as the side mirrors are concerned, even the stick-mounted cameras are back. The production Avant, on the other hand, will have inset handles instead of pop-out flush doors.

Compared to the original concept, the tail of the A6 Avant e-tron is much steeper. The diffuser and rear spoiler are still present, but their size and visibility have been greatly reduced. This is expected to be fixed in the S and RS models in the future. Although partially covered by a vinyl wrap, the taillights are still full-width, even though they initially look different and more like those of current Audi vehicles.

The new Q6 e-tron will serve as inspiration for the cabin of Audi’s A6 e-tron, details of which the company has not yet revealed. The Q6 e-tron is equipped with Audi’s latest “Digital Stage” infotainment system, consisting of a 14.9-inch infotainment system and an 11.9-inch digital driver display mounted on a curved glass screen. Apart from this, the passenger also gets a 10.9-inch touchscreen.

Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which also powers the Porsche Macan EV, will be used by the A6 e-tron. A stated WLTP range of 435 miles (700 km) is estimated with the 800-volt design and 100 kWh battery pack, with DC fast charging at up to 270 kW. Furthermore, the dual motor system is estimated to generate 469 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque.
