Suspected militants attacked the headquarters of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in the southeastern region of Sistan-Baluchestan, killing at least 11 members of Iran’s security forces and wounding 10 others, state media reported on Thursday.

State television said at least 16 suspected militants were killed in nightly clashes between the Jaish al-Adl group and security forces in the towns of Chabahar and Rask.

national broadcaster IRIB Said: “Deputy Commissioner of Police Abbas Mir was martyred in an attack at Police Station No. 11 in Chabahar city”

It added that some attackers were also killed or wounded.

In addition, the statement stated that the “Jaish al-Adl” organization was responsible for the attack. The organization was established in 2012 and is designated as a “terrorist” organization by Iran.

“The terrorists failed to achieve their goal of seizing the Chabahar and Lask Guard headquarters,” Deputy Interior Minister Majid Milahmadi told state television.

Notably, Sistan-Balochistan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been plagued by instability.

In July last year, another police station in the provincial capital Zahedan was attacked, killing two police officers and four attackers.

Pakistan condemns Iran attack

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Mudasir Tipu has condemned the two horrific terrorist attacks in Iran. He said that Pakistan supports Iran in the fight against terrorism.

He said on Brotherly neighbor Iran, fight terrorism and protect its interests. Terrorism must be contained.”
