Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil development projects worth nearly Rs 11,600 crore in Assam on Sunday. He will also address a public meeting at 11.30 am at the grounds of Veterinary College, Kanappala, where many state and central projects will be launched.

Some of the major projects that are about to lay foundation stones include the Kamakya temple corridor, a six-lane road for the new airport terminal in Guwahati, upgradation of Nehru Stadium as per FIFA standards and a new sports center at Chandrapur.

The second edition of the Asom Mara Road Race will also be launched by the Prime Minister. This phase will include 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges with a total investment of Rs 3,444 crore. In addition, Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a new integrated building of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, which will be constructed at a cost of 32.5 billion rupees. He will also lay the foundation stone of the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 578 crore, and the Unity Mall in Guwahati at a cost of Rs 297 crore.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur at a cost of Rs 1,451 crore and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri at a cost of Rs 592 crore. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Prime Minister will lay foundation stones or launch projects worth a total of Rs 11,599 crore, which will be jointly funded by the state government and the Centre.”

Modi is scheduled to return after the show on Sunday afternoon. The Prime Minister landed at the Priya Gopinath Bodoloi International Airport from Odisha on Saturday evening and stayed overnight at the Koinadala State Guesthouse. In Odisha, he laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur to promote development in the energy sector such as gas, coal and power generation, besides important projects in roads, railways and higher education sectors. . He also visited the IIM Sambalpur model and held a photography exhibition at the site.
