Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024 has been announced, including Indians and people of Indian descent. Among them is Asma Khan, the renowned Indian-born British chef best known for her Darjeeling Express restaurant in London’s Soho district.

Specializing in Bengali and Indian Rajput cuisine, Ms. Khan has gained widespread recognition for her cuisine and innovative cooking methods.

Who is Asma Khan?

  1. Asma Khan comes from a royal family. The chef’s father is a Muslim Rajput, a descendant of a warrior tribe, and his mother is a Muslim Bengali.
  2. In 2017, she recounted her upbringing in a short documentary produced in collaboration with the BBC. She said: “The first girl born was sad and the second girl was a disaster.
