Arvind Kejriwal to meet ministers, govt to come out of jail: AAP

New Delhi:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in the Delhi liquor policy scam case, will summon two ministers to jail every week and review the work progress of his department, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said on Monday.

Mr Pathak and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwantman met Mr Kejriwal in Tihar on Monday.

Mr. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 and is currently in judicial custody and lodged in Tihar Jail. People in judicial custody cannot sign political documents.

In an interaction with PTI Editor, Jail Superintendent Sanjay Baniwal said, “The person can sign only two things – one is his legal documents or complaints, but these should be apolitical or irrelevant to his situation,” or letters to family members or property documents. “

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Pathak, the national general secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (organisation) conveyed the chief minister’s action plan to review the functioning of various departments in the coming days.

“Starting next week, the First Minister will summon two ministers to jail every week, where he will review the work of their departments and provide them with guidance and instructions,” he said.

“We will take all necessary legal procedures (to achieve this). From next week when ministers meet, the government will start functioning in the prisons in a proper manner,” Mr Pathak said.

The AAP national general secretary (organisation) said Mr Kejriwal asked him to convey the MLAs to the party, visit door-to-door in their districts, meet people and understand their concerns.

“The MLAs should work hard to solve any problem faced by the people. Mr. Kejriwal said the MLAs must work harder than before to cover up his absence,” he said.

At a press conference, when Pathak was asked about Kejriwal’s absence from the campaign, he said: “Poll campaigns are going on in all states. Everyone in the party has become more proactive. People who used to work 10 hours People are working 15 hours now. Most people in our party have feelings for Kejriwal and this feeling encourages them to work more.”

Mr Kejriwal on Monday did not get any interim relief from the Supreme Court, which asked the Enforcement Directorate until April 24 to challenge his arrest in a money laundering case stemming from the alleged liquor policy scam.

Replying to a question, Pathak said, “We have full confidence in the judiciary and hope that Arvind Kejriwal will be released on bail soon. Because in the end, the truth will prevail. There is a complete legal process and everyone has to walk in this case , Whatever decision the judicial department makes, we will unanimously accept it.”
