Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and four BJP candidates to be elected to Parliament without objection

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and four other Bharatiya Janata Party candidates will be elected to MLAs unopposed as there are no other candidates in its assembly on Wednesday, the last day of filing papers Submit your nomination for the seat.

The assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls. Polling for the 60-member Assembly and two Lok Sabha constituencies (West Arunachal Pradesh and East Arunachal Pradesh) will be held on April 19.

Fifteen candidates will also try their luck for two Lok Sabha seats in the northeastern state. Review of nomination papers will be completed on Thursday and the last date to withdraw a candidate is March 30.

The parliamentary vote will be counted on June 2, and the results of the Lok Sabha election will be announced on June 4.

“Single nomination papers for five constituencies have been filed. We hope to add some (seats) before the last day of exit,” Mr Khandu told PTI over the phone.

This will be Mr. Kandu’s fourth term as MLA, having won uncontested three times. He hails from Mukto constituency in Tawang district.

The other four candidates who will win uncontested include Jikke Tako from Tali, Nyato Dukom from Taliha, Ratu Techi from Sagalee and Mutchu Mithi from Roing, as the Congress nominee and other candidates in Withdrew his candidacy on Wednesday.

The BJP has fielded candidates in all 60 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, with the opposition Congress party nominating 34 candidates and the National People’s Party nominating 29 candidates. The NCP and Arunachal People’s Party (PPA) nominated 17 and two candidates respectively for the assembly elections.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 41 seats. Later, seven MLAs from other parties joined the BJP. The BJP also won two Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 elections.

The BJP formed the first democratically elected government in Arunachal Pradesh in 2019, although Chief Minister Khandu left the Congress party along with several MPs and joined hands with the BJP to form the Arunachal People’s Party. , formed the Bharatiya Janata Party government in 2016.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said Arunachal Pradesh is leading the way in showing the mood of the country.

An official said, “A total of 197 candidates have filed papers for 60 assembly constituencies. Five BJP nominees, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, are likely to be elected unopposed , as no other candidates have filed nominations for their seats.”

Joint Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu said the fate of the five BJP candidates will be clear after a review of nomination papers on Thursday.

Talking about the assembly elections, he said eight candidates filed nominations for Arunachal Pradesh West Lok Sabha constituency. Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nabam Tuki were among those who presented papers on the bench.

Arunachal Pradesh East Lok Sabha constituency has seven nominations. The BJP has fielded sitting MP Tapir Gao, while the Congress has nominated Boshiram Siram from the eastern assembly seat.
