Search and rescue sheep deployed on Dartmoor
Dartmoor Search and Rescue has announced that anyone in trouble while hiking on the Bank Holiday can get help from a rescue sheep.
They wore high-visibility hoods and bells around their necks so the wounded could hear them.
“They’re the perfect animals to look for,” said team veterinarian Ashley.
“They’re already domesticated, there’s a lot of them, they’re adapted to our mountain conditions, they have their own jackets, you don’t need to carry food and water for them, they’re easy to train.”

Chicken with drug detected
Swiss police have announced the latest weapon in the war on drugs: chicken sniffing.
According to police, the new flock of “Drogenspürhuhn” chickens, or drug-detection chickens, joined the team after successful tests.
Police say the chickens are cheaper to train and raise than dogs and lay eggs every day, which helps make them cost-effective.
