iOS 18 has long been rumored to mark a major overhaul for Apple’s iPhone models, introducing rumored generative AI features. Apple CEO Tim Cook himself has confirmed that these features will be launched in 2024.

Speculation aside, another rumor suggests that the aesthetics may also undergo a major makeover, with Apple possibly leaning towards a VisionOS-inspired design.

For those unfamiliar, VisionOS is the latest operating system from the iPhone maker, debuting earlier this month alongside the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. According to The Verifier via 9to5Mac, iOS 18 is expected to feature visual elements inspired by VisionOS.

VisionOS’s rounded corners, shadows, and depth are very similar to iOS. It’s worth noting that there are similarities with tvOS apps as well. Additionally, The Verifier suggests the redesign may extend to system menus and built-in Apple apps like Safari.

However, it should be noted that this is just a rumor at the moment and these changes may not appear in iOS 18. Honestly, the scale of these changes is pretty huge, and the sweeping changes this time around, coupled with the myriad of AI features, does seem like a realistic undertaking. Having said that, expect these issues to be clarified at the WWDC 2024 event.
