Apple gearing up for ‘biggest AirPods launch yet’: report

Apple is said to be working to improve its AirPods product line, with fourth-generation AirPods models set to replace existing entry-level Apple headphones. The new model will reportedly be the largest AirPods launch to date and will feature several upgrades, including a new design and charging case improvements. One of the two fourth-generation AirPods models will reportedly also feature active noise cancellation (ANC), which was previously only available on the AirPods Pro model.

On his latest “Power On” communicationBloomberg’s Mark Gurman reiterates that Apple is preparing two new fourth-generation entry-level AirPods to replace the existing second- and third-generation models. The new models, codenamed B768(E) and B768(M) (E is said to stand for “entry” and M for “mid-range”), will feature a new design, improved fit and a USB Type-C charging case. In addition, Gurman said the mid-range AirPods will be equipped with ANC and “Find My Speaker” functionality in the charging case to help users find lost headphones.

Gurman also said that Apple suppliers are preparing for “the largest AirPods launch to date,” with overseas suppliers about to begin production of a new line of truly wireless stereo (TWS) headphones. “The company plans to produce 20 million to 25 million headphones, an increase in volume over previous new models,” he said in the newsletter.
