Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop is one of the best cricket commentators in the world. Currently, Bishop is part of the commentary team for the Indian Premier League (IPL), but he was recently accused of comparing two Indian goalkeepers – Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. A user on social media claimed that Bishop said during a broadcast that Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Pant was a better version of Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Samson. “Ian Bishop on live commentary: ‘Anything Samson can do, Rishabh Pant can do better.’ He’s spreading the truth,” A post on claimed.

In response, one fan questioned whether Bishop had made such comments. Bishop quickly clarified: “Do you really think this is how I conduct myself?”

This isn’t the first time Bishop has taken to social media to clarify his stance. In fact, just earlier this IPL season, fans criticized Bishop for praising Virat Kohli’s sluggish performance against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday.

Kohli completed his half-century off 39 balls while he reached triple figures with 67 balls, the joint slowest in IPL history with Manish Pandey.

“Bish said on live broadcast that Kohli completed his fifty off just 39 balls. You let me down @irbishi,” a fan posted on X.

However, Bishop apologized to fans for his choice of words.

“I put an ‘L’ on that one. I know exactly what T20 batting means, but the word I inserted was inaccurate. My choice of words and language in keeping with the format of the game needs to be more precise and Sorry, we’ll move on,” Bishop responded.

Meanwhile, Kohli is the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024 so far with 319 runs in 6 games.
