Conflict-Another special flight carrying 290 Indians stranded in Iran was safely landed in New Delhi on Saturday night, leading to the total number of people vacated under Operation Sindhu to 1,117.
It marks the fifth batch of Indians extracted from Iran as part of the ongoing operation.
In a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “Operation Sindhu gained momentum. 290 Indian citizens have safely returned home from Iran on a special flight from Mashad, who landed in New Delhi on 21 June 2025 at 2330 pm.”
Mea said, “With this, 1,117 Indian citizens have been expelled from Iran.”
Withdrawal, including students, shared their experiences of stressful situation in Iran and expressed deep gratitude to the Government of India and Embassy officials.
An Indian citizen from Bihar while studying the drug at Tehran University of Medical Sciences said, “I am from Siwan, Bihar. I have been in Iran for the last 2 years. I study medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The situation is important in Tehran. The other places are common. I am grateful to the government.”
Another Evacuee, Naveed, MBBS student of a second year, said, “I am from Kashmir. I am a 2 -year -old MBBS student. I feel very good now. I am grateful to India. He vacated us.”
Speaking of the fear he faced, a holiday said, “I feel very good. Missiles were firing. We were very afraid there. We were trapped there for 1 week.”
Praising the government’s efforts, Momin Ushtak from Kashmir said, “I am from Kashmir. The situation is not good there. We are very grateful to the Government of India, Kashmir and Embassy. They are worth a special thanks, because they vacate us and brought us back home.”
Gratitude was also directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Another holiday Parveen said, “I am very happy. I am grateful to PM Modi from under my heart. Our government helped us go back here.”
Indira Kumari said, “We have returned. I am grateful to the Government of India and the Prime Minister of India.”
Earlier on Saturday, a special flight of Mashhad carrying 310 Indian citizens landed in New Delhi at 4:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the Israeli aerial attack targeted an important nuclear feature in Iran’s Isfahan province, as reported by Al Jazira.
According to Al Jazeera, the Air Force also hit the main premises as well as the buildings involved in centrifuge production along with the main campus.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that a centrifuge manufacturing workshop was hit, but clarified that there was no nuclear content on the site, so there were no radiological effects. (AI)
