Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner is facing fresh questions about her tax affairs and there is a feeling in Westminster they will not be the last.

The same accusations continue to emerge, surrounding whether she paid enough tax when she sold her Stockport home in 2015.

She bought the former council house and made £48,000 on the sale, which would have qualified her for capital gains tax had it not been her main property. Angela Reiner She has always maintained that this is her principal residence and therefore she is exempt from tax.

Today the Mail on Sunday claimed there was evidence she should pay more capital gains tax precisely because the house was not her main property, based on its analysis of her social media and Twitter accounts.

The newspaper said dozens of posts made by the congressman online showed that between 2010 and 2015 she posted about her children and cats at her husband’s address, a house a mile from her home. The post was titled “Just received “Back from get off work.”

A bigger problem facing Ms Rayner politically is her current reluctance to release tax advice, which she claims would exonerate her, and her failure to show it to party leader Sir Keir Starmer, who would have been without it The Conservatives will be keen to continue to question whether she fully complied with the hotel’s rules.

In response to the Daily Mail, labor A party spokesman said: “Angela and her husband have mutually decided to retain their existing home to reflect their family circumstances and share childcare responsibilities.

“Angela has always made it clear that when they have children and get married, she will also spend time on her husband’s property. She has every right to do so.”
