Chennai Super Kings are back to winning ways in some style. With stellar performances from Tushar Deshpande, Mustafizur Rahman and Ravindra Jadeja, and brilliant batting from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Kolkata by 7 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Knight Riders (KKR) match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. CSK continued to dominate in their fort and they had no trouble getting home, ending KKR’s unbeaten run in this tournament. Chennai captain Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 67 to seal the victory for his team.

MS Dhoni also came in to bat and CSK supporters could not keep calm. In fact, they made so much noise that KKR’s Andre Russell had to cover his ears.

Talking about the match, Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra put on a 138-run chase and the opener put huge pressure on the KKR bowlers.

Vaibhav Arora drew first blood for KKR as he took CSK opener Rachin Ravindra for 10 runs. New batsman Daryl Mitchell was bowled by Ramandeep at deep backward leg in the sixth over.

Daryl Mitchell and Gaikwad continued the charge, hitting the KKR bowlers at regular intervals. CSK captain Gaikwad scored 50 off 45 balls.

In the 13th over, Sunil Narine broke the 70-run gap between Mitchell and Gaikwad. Narine dismissed Mitchell for 25 runs. Shivam Dube came to the crease and the batsman hit some great shots to bring CSK close to victory but lost to Vaibhav Arora for 28 in 18 overs (Vaibhav Arora).

Dube’s wicket invited MS Dhoni to the crease and the stadium erupted in loud cheers as the crowd’s favorite wicketkeeper-batsman came to the crease. In the 18th over, Gaikwad hit a boundary to lead the team home with a 7-wicket win.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant performance of 3/18 restricted KKR to 137/9 in 20 overs. Gaikwad won the toss and picked the first delivery.

KKR lost in-form opener Phil Salt off the first ball of the innings. After the wicket of Salt, Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi led the Knight Riders to a score of 50 in the fifth over.

The Kolkata-based team lost two batsmen in the seventh over off all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. First, the spinners dismissed Raghuvanshi for 24 runs with 3 fours and a six and then dismissed Narine who had 3 boundaries and 2 max With the help of 27 points.

After Jadeja took two wickets in a row, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer were at the crease. Both batsmen could only manage four runs before Venkatesh was sent back to the stands after scoring just three runs off Jadeja’s bowling in the ninth over as the team scored 64 runs.

After Venktesh’s wicket, Ramandeep Singh came out to support his captain Shriyas. Both added just 21 runs to their total before Ramandeep was sent to the dressing room after scoring just 13 runs in the 12th over.

Rinku Singh and Shreyas formed a 27-run partnership but Rinku was dismissed after scoring just 9 runs.

Andre Russell batted next at center field. The right-handed batsman scored 10 runs with Shriyas off the bowling of Tushar Deshpande in the 19th over, when the team scored 127, and later with Shriyas Shreyas built a 15-run partnership before being dismissed.

In the 20th over, Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets in the final over and finished with figures of 4-0-22-2 Ended the round. He took the wickets of Shreyas and Mitchell Starc.

Apart from Mustafizul, Jadeja and Deshpande took three wickets each in four overs, conceding 18 and 33 runs respectively.
