Andhra Pradesh Task Force constable killed by Red Saunders smugglers, two arrested

In a chilling incident, red sanders smugglers in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamaya district snatched the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Red Sanders Task Force (APSRSTF) Armed Reserve Police Constable Ganesh ) was knocked down by the car, causing his death.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning as APSRSTF officers conducted searches that began on Monday night.

The task force staff received a tip-off that red sandpipers were being transported illegally at Chinnepalle in KV Palle Mandal.

Acting on a tip-off, they reached the Gollapalli tank at Sundupalle border on the KV Palle-Sundupalle forest road, 30 km from Pillar in Annamaya district, and inspected the vehicle.

The team intercepted a car arriving from Kadapa with five passengers, including the driver, and Ganesh asked the driver to get out of the vehicle for verification while the rest of the staff checked the vehicle.

During the verification process, Ganesh got into an argument with the driver. While the two were arguing, the task force found Hongsha in the car.

The driver sensed something was wrong and immediately walked towards the car, knocking down the police officer who was standing in front of the car. The incident left Ganesh injured and resulted in fractures.

Crews and officers chased the speeding car before stopping it near Peeler. They later impounded the vehicle along with Red Sanders.

There were five people in the car, three of whom managed to escape, and the task force detained the remaining two.

Ganesh succumbed to his injuries on the way to Pillar Government Hospital. Constable Ganesh is a native of Puttaparthi in Satyasai district and belongs to the 14th Battalion.

Meanwhile, Telugu Democratic Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu accused the YSRCP government of killing constable Ganesh.

Naidu claimed that over the past five years, the YSRCP-led government had weakened the Red Saunders Anti-Smuggling Task Force and rendered it ineffective.
