The Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag on Sunday visited the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag and reviewed the arrangements to assess the situation of the injured pilgrims in a bus accident related to the Amarnath Yatra on Sunday.
After completing the Amarnath pilgrimage in the pilgrim Kashmir, there were routes to the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage site in Jammu, when their bus was found with an accident in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. At least ten people, all from Madhya Pradesh, suffered frequent injuries and they were transferred to GMC Anantnag.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the injured pilgrims and inquired about their health and treatment treatment. He assured patients and their families of full support of the administration and directed hospital officials to ensure best possible medical care.
One of the injured pilgrims said that the group had gone out early in the morning. “10-11 people are injured. We are all from Madhya Pradesh. We were traveling from Amarnath to Vaishno Devi and left at 3 am. After the accident, we were brought to the hospital. We are doing well here,” he said.
Another injured pilgrim, Bhagirath said, “I am in the MP from Mandsaur. We came for the journey. The accident occurred in the Kulgam. I have hurt my eyes. The system here is good.”
GMC Anantnag, an orthopedic specialist, Dr. Tariq told ANI, “We have 8–10 people. Most of them have injuries on their heads. Arthopadically, they are all stable. After investigation, they will all be discharged in an hour. A person will be removed with chest trauma.”
