Australia pacer Mitchell Starc is all set to return to action after an eight-year hiatus in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During IPL 2024, Starc became the most expensive player in the history of player auctions after KKR spent an incredible Rs 24.75 crore to acquire it. However, the bidding war for Starc was started by Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, but both the teams gave up when the price of the lanky pacer approached the Rs 10-crore mark.

Interestingly, Starc was also sold to KKR ahead of IPL 2018, but the Australian pacer decided to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. He last played in the IPL in 2015 for RCB.

Talking about his IPL comeback, Starc said that he can’t wait to don the KKR jersey.

“I think it has been 8 years. Back to KKR, I was supposed to go there in 2018. So I will be back there and wait for the opportunity to don the gold and purple. I guess my memory is very few Having been with RCB back in 2014 and 2015, but yeah, it’s really exciting to be joining RCB. It’s a new group of players, obviously. A group of guys that I definitely haven’t met or been able to work with before. ,” Starc said in the video post. Provided by cricket.com.au.

The 34-year-old feels that the IPL can get a bit chaotic at times due to the fierce competition, admitting that the cash-rich league is the best franchise tournament.

“I’ve played against and faced some international players. Yeah, it’s going to be exciting. It’s definitely a new challenge. But, yeah, it’s going to be exciting. It’s always a little bit frustrating. People are excited.” “When it’s the best T20 league in the world, I go to the circus. So, yes, I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

The 34-year-old Starc usually prioritizes international matches over the IPL, but he decided to join the auction with a focus on the T20 World Cup after the IPL.

He played only two seasons in the IPL and took 34 wickets in 27 games at an average of 20.38.
