Former Deputy Postmaster General Alan Bates told the Horizon Public Inquiry on Wednesday (April 10) that the post office was “dead and beyond saving”.

Mr Bates said the organization needed to be completely rebuilt.

Mr Bates also claimed the Post Office needed to be sold to a company like Amazon, which could inject money into the Post Office to prevent it from becoming a burden on the government.

Mr Bates campaigned on behalf of hundreds of deputy postmasters who lost their jobs in the Post Office scandal, some of whom were jailed on charges of theft stemming from faulty computer software.
