Akash Deep’s unstoppable ‘no-ball’ stunned England star Jack Crawley. Look cricket news

Debutant paceman Akash Deep made a big impression in his first spell in Test cricket as he blew away the stumps of the England batsmen on the first day of the fourth Test in Ranchi on Friday. A brilliant ball from Akash eluded Crawley, but the India bowler overstepped before breaking the stumps, and hence, the batsman remained not-out. Akash was delighted to see Crawley’s stumps blown away but it turned out that he had bowled a no-ball. Therefore, the celebration was cut short.

But this was just the beginning for Akash Deep, who dismissed the likes of Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in the same over. A few overs later, Deep also made up for Crawley’s mistake, dismissing him in the same manner, although this time he hit the ball over the stumps, blowing the bails.

Akash Deep made his debut for India after the team management decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah due to ‘workload issues’. Bumrah, India’s leading wicket-taker in the series, was ruled out of the game, paving the way for the talented Akash to earn his maiden Test cap.

Talking about the match, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first against India captained by Rohit Sharma. Rohit also said that he would have liked to bat first on the pitch, but Akash proved that the opportunity to bowl first was not bad either.

India’s playing XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.

England’s playing XI: Jack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Fox (wk), Tom Hartley, Ollie Robinson, Shoaib Bashir, James Anderson.
