Ahmedabad proceeds with ‘Mission for Million Tree’, Gujarat CM is involved in planting saplings

September 18 (IANS) in a major push to expand the Green Cover of Ahmedabad, the city, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials for a collective garden campaign under the ‘Mission Four Million Trees’ campaign in a garden behind Sabarmati Jail in Ranip Ward.

This initiative will see 14,000 plants – including Ayurvedic species – which are planted in 4,300 square meters using the Miawaki method.

So far, the AMC has planted more than 40.80 lakh saplings across the city under the campaign, with careful schemes, landing of plantation sites, and with monitoring through Lidar Survey Technology to track development and survival rates.

The drive also includes comprehensive civil participation, from the distribution of more than 54,000 basil plants during the month of hearing to the auspicious days of religiously important trees like Peepal, Kadam and Bilva on auspicious days. On the Prime Minister’s birthday, September 17, about 12,820 Tulsi plants were distributed in temples in all the cities wards.

AMC Commissioner Bachanidhi Pani, Mayor Pratiben Jain, MPs, MLAs and civil leaders participated in the Ranip event, where Patel symbolically planted a ‘Putrajiva’ tree.

Schools, religious organizations and residential societies also participated, a greenery promised their support for the construction of Gujarat.

According to AMC officials, the purpose of ‘Mission for Million Tries’ is not only promoting urban greenery, but also to encourage public awareness and responsibility for the conservation of trees.

Plantation sites are mapped on the Google map, while advanced technology ensures scientific monitoring, making the campaign one of the most data-operated urban greening projects in the country.

Meanwhile, Gujarat has emerged as a leader in India’s green energy infection, with a strong focus on solar, wind and hybrid renewable projects.

The state hosts Asia’s largest solar park in Charms and India’s first offshore wind power project, while also promotes roof solar in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat.

Establishing more than 20 GW renewable energy capacity and with ambitious plans to pursue it, Gujarat is aligning with 2070 net-zero goals in India, supported by investor-friendly policies, port-LED benefits for wind energy, and innovative initiatives like solar-ghununa hybrid park, make it a center of continuous energy development.
