On the recommendation of the Union Ministry of Ministry of Home Ministry, the Government of India on Monday banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for the spread of stimulating and communally sensitive materials and false and misleading information against the country, army and security agencies as per government sources.
Restricted channels include Don News, Sama TV, Eri News and Jio News.
The news is amid growing tension with Pakistan on April 22, on the backdrop of a tragic terrorist incident, 26 people lost their lives near Basaron Meadow, a popular tourist destination in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack is one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, resulting in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans. (AI)
