KL Rahul was one of the biggest absentees from the T20 World Cup squad named by the BCCI on Tuesday. The experienced wicketkeeper-batsman’s name was not even in the reserve list for this marquee event. Despite being the IPL captain and the first wicketkeeper-batsman to complete 400 runs in IPL 2024, Rahul was overlooked. After the verdict, Rahul received a voice of support from a popular Bollywood actor, Riteish Deshmukh. “KL Rahul should have been in the #T20WorldCup squad,” he wrote on Twitter.

Rahul’s team LSG defeated MI on Tuesday. Marcus Stoinis once again saved victory as Lucknow Super Giants won by four wickets against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. LSG struggled early and the middle order suffered. The collapse, but Stoinis played an impressive innings, ensuring that the hosts emerged victorious.

LSG lost Ashton Turner and Ashton Turner early on, but Nicholas Pooran held on till the end and gave the hosts the win.

This was LSG’s sixth win on home soil and helped them move up to third place with 12 points from 10 matches. MI finished 9th with six points from 12 matches.

Earlier in the innings, Mohsin Khan took two wickets for LSG, while Marcus Stoinis, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mayank Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each. Vadhera scored 46 runs, Ishan Kishan played an important inning of 32 runs and Tim David played a stormy inning of 35 runs in 18 balls to take Mumbai to a competitive score.

Opting to bowl first, a brilliant catch by Marcus Stoinis off Mohsin Khan ended Rohit Sharma’s stay at the crease early in the second over.

LSG extended their strong start as Stoinis got the big wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, spoiling MI’s hopes of a big powerplay total. In the third over, Ravi Bishnoi made a sensational direct hit and dismissed Tilak Verma after scoring just 10 runs.

MI captain Hardik Pandya has struggled for form in IPL 2024, and being out just hours after the T20 World Cup squad was announced was the last thing he needed. LSG fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq completely dismissed Pandya and KL Rahul took a sharp catch behind the stumps.

After Mumbai fell by four wickets and scored just 28 runs in the powerplay, Nehal Wadhera and Ishan Kishan kept MI’s hopes alive with occasional boundaries.

In the 9th over, Kishan got a lease of life as he was dropped by Ashton Turner on 8 runs. Vadhera and Kishan tried to hit the big hits, but MI never recovered after losing four wickets in the powerplay.

Ravi Bishnoi got his first wicket of the night when he dismissed Kishan for 32. In the 15th over, Vadhera scored 16 runs by hitting two sixes and a four off fast bowler Mayank Yadav. Vadhera continued the run flow for MI as the batsman took Mumbai past the 100-run mark.

Mohsin’s sarcastic yorker ended Vadhera’s stay at the crease as the batsman returned to the pavilion after scoring 46 runs. Mayank Yadav joined the wicket-taking party in the 19th over as he dismissed new batsman Mohammad Nabi for one run. After taking his first wicket, Mayank walked out of the field without completing his over.

In the last over, Tim David gave away 17 runs to Mohsin with the help of two fours and took his team to 144/7 in 20 overs.
