There is less than half a month left for the T20 World Cup 2024 to start. This mega event to be held in America and West Indies is going to start from June 1. Team India, who will continue their long quest for a major ICC title. The 11-year-old is set to begin his campaign with a match against Ireland on June 5. Next, the Rohit Sharma-led team will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-octane encounter on June 9. India will play against the US on June 12 before taking on Canada on June 15 for their last group stage match.

Before the mega event, Team India captain Rohit has given a concrete message during a recent interview. Speaking to Dubai Eye 103.8’s YouTube channel, he said that the game is not about individual milestones and statistics.

Rohit, who took over as the captain of India in place of Virat Kohli, is ready to lead the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“When I took over as India captain, I just wanted everyone to move in one direction and that’s how a team game should be played. It’s not about individual milestones and individual stats and goals “This was what 11 of us can bring to the table and win the trophy,” Rohit said.

There were many speculations that Rohit might retire with the conclusion of India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024, but the India captain has put an end to such thoughts by expressing his desire to play for a few more years.

“The journey has been amazing. It’s been 17 years. I want to play a few more years and make an impact on world cricket,” Rohit said.

He said, “I have had more ups than downs in my life and the human nature of what I am today is because of the past and the ups and downs.”
