Adventure tourism important to increase repeating trips to Kashmir: CM Omar Abdullah

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that to promote repeating tourism in Kashmir, it is necessary to make something new and refreshed every time – such as adventure tourism.

“If we aspire to promote repeat tourism, we should recognize that tourists will not fully return to our Mughal gardens or tulip blooms, nor only for Gondola riding. They offer something new.

For the preservation and promotion of the historical trekking routes of the region, he said that these trails connect Jammu to Ladakh to Ladakh – not only physical routes, but cultural corridors of heritage and permanent tourism.

“It is necessary that we marketing our trekking routes not only as a tourist product, but as part of our ecological and cultural heritage.

Referring to the current situation, Omar Abdullah said that it was unfortunate that the book is being released at a time when many trekking routes described in it are inaccessible due to recent developments.

“Reading this book provokes both praise and sadness. Praise for the natural wealth we have, and sadness because we are not able to experience or share it in the current.

Considering his personal regret over not treking these trails, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised the author’s dedication and passion. “Mr. Shah is really lucky that these routes have been detected in the last 20-25 years. His experiences, this quantity reflect beautifully, deep commitment and love for the land.”

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to make the book digital to ensure widespread access. “If we want this task to benefit those who are really interested in trekking, we should digitize it – perhaps through an app. Let the coordinates, photos, approach and vepoints be a digital guide for adventure lovers,” he suggested.

He said that when the book beautifies the coffee table, its real value lies in becoming a functional resource that inspires exploration and promotes permanent tourism.

On this occasion, the advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, and author Mahmood A. Shah also spoke. The program was notched by the Nonconologist. The Shariq was operated by Masudi and participated by major data from travel, trade, tourism and media.
