New Delhi:

Adani Group today announced the opening of its first copper plant in Mundra, Gujarat.

Adani Enterprises is constructing the plant with a capacity of 1 million tonnes in two phases. “Nearly $1.2 billion will be invested in the first phase,” the company said in a statement.

This marks the debut of Adani’s product portfolio in the metal industry. “The successful progress of the greenfield project demonstrates the Adani Group’s ability to plan and execute large-scale projects,” the company said.

Adani Enterprises invested nearly US$1.2 billion to build a copper smelting plant with a capacity of 500,000 tons in the first phase.

Upon completion of the second phase, similar capacity will be added and with an annual capacity of 1 million tonnes, Kutch Copper will become the world’s largest single-site custom-built smelter, leveraging state-of-the-art technology and digitalization while maintaining a strong focus on ESG performance standards. Conduct benchmark testing. It will create 2,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs.

Kutch Copper is working to establish Kutch Copper Tubes Limited as part of its forward integration strategy to add copper pipes to its product portfolio. These pipes will cater for applications in the air conditioning and refrigeration sectors.
