The Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Anti -Corruption (ACB) said on Thursday that a mineral supervisor of the Department of Geology and Mining was implicated and arrested to demand a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to a statement issued to the news agency- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a written complaint was received to the Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir, the Bureau of Corruption, alleging that Mineral Supervisor Bashrat Habib in Geology and Mining Department was demanding a bribe to allow the minor minerals (sand) to lift.
“On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was conducted, which, which is concerned and accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2025 U/S7 confirmed the demand for a case FIR No. 11/2025 U/S7 in the case of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended), police station ACB was registered and investigated in Srinagar.
“During the investigation, a trap team was formed. The team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant was caught with red hand demanding a bribe amount of Rs 15,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused was taken into custody on the spot.”
It is appropriate to mention here that two days ago, another officer of the same department was caught red by ACB, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Safapora area, it reads that further investigation of the case is going on- (KNO)
