ACB arrested Patwari to accept bribe in Kulgam

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Monday that the Patevar Pair Banimullah has arrested a patwari from Kulgam to confess the bribe to implicate and arrest.

A spokesman said that a written complaint was received to the Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Anti -Kashmir, alleging that the complainant had submitted an application to Tehil Office Pahlu, Kulgam, requested to obtain permission to cut walnut trees, which are located in the land of the complaint.

“Tehsil office aspect, Kulgam sent his application to the concerned Patwari for the report. When the complainant contacted Patwari of Patwari Halley Banimulla, Patwari demanded Rs 23000, which demanded Rs 23000 as a bribe from the complainant in exchange for providing favorable reports.”

The complainant selected to not pay the bribe and instead contacted the anti -corruption bureau to take legal action against the Patwari provided under the law. On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done, which confirmed the demand by the said patwari and accordingly the case FIR No. 02/2025 U/S7 P/C Act 1988 was registered and investigated in PS ACB Anantnag.

A trap team was formed during the investigation. The team laid a successful trap and Patwari Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana S/O Mohammad Ayub Khatana R/O Crulu Kund Kulu Kulgam Red was caught demanding and accepting the bribe. He was arrested by the ACB team on hot. The bribe amount was also recovered from their possession in the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team.

Subsequently, the discovery of accused Patwari’s residential house has been done in the presence of Executive Magistrates and Independent Witnesses, written in the statement, saying that immediate investigation of the case is going on.
