The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Monday that Kathua arrested a patwari from Hiranagar, Hiranagar, Hiranagar to demand a bribe of Rs 30,000.
A spokesperson said, a complaint was received by the Anti-Corruption Bureau alleging that public servants, Liaquat Ali, Patwari, Patwari Halley Thuthe Chak Tehsil Hiranagar, District Katua, demanded illegal satisfaction from the complainant for verification of mutation.
The statement said that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant to enter his wife’s name in the mutation register.
The complainant arranged Rs 30,000 as a bribe money as 1 installment for payment to the said track, because, the complainant did not want to pay the bribe and contacted the anti -corruption bureau to take legal action against the accused public servant under the law.
“On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was conducted, which was concerned and accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2025 U/S7 was registered in a case FIR No. 13/2025 U/S7 in the case of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, police station ACB Jammu and investigation,” was taken in the statement.
During the investigation, the spokesperson said that a trap team was formed under the leadership of the Gazetted Rank Officer. “The team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant was caught in the presence of independent witnesses demanding a bribe amount of Rs 30,000 from the complainant. The accused was arrested by the ACB team after the appropriate process of law. In the presence of independent witnesses and magistrates, Kishanpur, Dungara, Bilwar, District Kathua,” It is being read out immediately.
