ACB arrested Patwari to accept bribe in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 21: Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau Traps and Arrests Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana, Patwari, Patwar Halqa Banimul, Kulgam for Demanding and Accharge.

Jammu and Kashmir Anti -Kashmir Bureau of Corruption Bureau received a written complaint alleging that the complainant had submitted an application at Tehsil Office Pahlu, Kulgam, requested to obtain permission to cut walnut trees, which are located in the complainant’s land. Tehsil office aspect, Kulgam sent his application to the concerned Patwari for the report. When the complainant contacted Patwari of Patwar Piri Banimullah, Patwari demanded an off 23000 as a bribe from the complainant to provide a favorable report.

The complainant selected to not pay the bribe and instead contacted the anti -corruption bureau to take legal action against the Patwari provided under the law. On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done, which confirmed the demand by the said patwari and accordingly the case FIR No. 02/2025 U/S7 P/C Act 1988 was registered and investigated in PS ACB Anantnag.

A trap team was formed during the investigation. The team laid a successful trap and Patwari Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana S/O Mohammad Ayub Khatana R/O Crulu Kund Kulu Kulgam Red was caught demanding and accepting the bribe. He was arrested by the ACB team on hot. The bribe amount was also recovered from their possession in the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team.

Subsequently, the residential house of the accused Patwari has been discovered in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses.

Further investigation of the case is going on immediately.
