An “extremely distressed” cat was found giving birth in a crisp box after being dumped on a street in West Dunbartonshire.
The white and gray cat gave birth to three kittens, but one of them was stillborn.
A member of the public discovered the box in the Alexander Tulichevan area on Monday, March 11 and took the cats to a home Scot SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Center.
The animal welfare charity has now launched an investigation and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Nikki Morrison, center manager for the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), said the cat was found giving birth and was in “extreme pain”.
“The cat and her two remaining kittens are being cared for and cared for by staff at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres,” she said.
