AAP launches social media campaign to 'save' democracy, constitution

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in connection with a money laundering case.

New Delhi:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday launched a social media campaign asking people to support the party in saving the country’s constitution and democracy.

Delhi Minister and AAP senior leader Atish held a press conference here and launched the “DP (Display Picture) Movement” on social media, urging people to join.

She said all AAP leaders and volunteers will change their profile pictures on X, Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media accounts, with the new photo showing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal behind bars with the caption “Modi Ka Sabse Bada” Dar Kejriwal”.

Atish said Kejriwal was the only leader in the country who could challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hence he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate without any evidence after the Lok Sabha polls were announced.

She claimed that despite a two-year long investigation by the ED into the alleged GST scam, they could not provide even “one paise” of evidence.

She alleged that the BJP and Modi wanted to suppress Kejriwal, adding that the AAP was waging a fight against “dictatorship” in the country.

She urged people to join the party’s social media Democratic campaign, saying saving democracy and the Constitution was not just Kejriwal’s fight.

Mr Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to his government’s now-repeated GST policy last Thursday. He will remain in the agency’s custody until March 28.
