Aadhar cards of SC/ST are being deactivated in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee claims

Mamta Banerjee said that she will write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kolkata:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday claimed that Aadhaar cards of SC, ST and minority people of the state are being deactivated ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Attacking the BJP government at the Centre, he alleged that Aadhaar cards were being deactivated to bring in the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, Ms Banerjee said she would write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.

Banerjee said, “Why were so many Aadhaar cards deactivated before the Lok Sabha? Aadhaar cards mostly of people from the Matua community have been deactivated. Cards of STs and minorities are also being deactivated.”
