Frustrated motorists took to Tripadvisor to mock flooding on the A14, which has caused long delays for almost three weeks.

The National Highways Agency said more than 12 million liters of water – the equivalent of nearly five Olympic-sized swimming pools – had been removed from the site along Newmarket’s eastbound carriageway last week.

One user wrote: “I accidentally visited this famous watering hole on my way home from get off work. I spent almost two hours and wow, what a beautiful view!”

Another post said: “Absolutely stunning, came with the whole family and it did not disappoint.

“The only regret is that there are no refreshments on site. Will go again.”

In another post, one user said: “Great experience. Did I miss the little gift shop?

“A souvenir pencil with a little useless eraser on the end will make a two-hour delay well worth it!”

In its latest maintenance update, the National Highways Agency said: “Flooding remains a regional priority and we are seeking assistance from all parties. We will continue to work with partners, including the Environment Agency, to resolve this issue.”
