Hyderabad, Nov 2 (IANS) In a shocking incident, a man killed three of his family members, including his wife and daughter, before committing suicide in Telangana’s Vikarabad district. Police gave this information on Sunday.

The incident took place in Kulakcherla village on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Police said 38-year-old Vepuri Yadaiah killed his wife Aluvelu, 32, daughter Aparna, 13, and sister-in-law Hanumamma, 40, by killing them with an ax while they were sleeping.

When he tried to attack her, his 16-year-old elder daughter Apoorva ran away from the house. He suffered injuries to his head and hands.

After killing all three, Yadaiya committed suicide by hanging himself in his house.

On information from the local people, the police reached the spot and kept the bodies in the mortuary for post-mortem.

Preliminary police investigation suggests that a domestic dispute led to this gruesome murder and suicide.

According to the police, there was some dispute between Yedaiah and his wife last week and they used to fight often. The village and family elders had advised the couple to resolve the issue.

Apoorva, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital, said that her father had an argument with her mother on Saturday evening. The village elders as well as some family members called Yadaiah and pulled him up for not improving his behaviour.

Yadaiah’s sister-in-law also came to the house the next day to take her sister and children to her home. Angered by the scolding from family members and village elders, Yadaiah did not eat dinner.

When all the family members were sleeping, Yadaiah attacked them with an axe. Apoorva said he first attacked her aunt and when her mother tried to save her, he attacked her too.

After killing both his aunt and mother, he turned to his daughters and asked how they would live. Apoorva said that he attacked him with the same axe. Aparna died on the spot, while Apoorva managed to escape after getting injured.

A case has been registered at Kulacherla police station. Police said they are investigating further.
