‘A job in drama’: Wasim Akram slams Pakistan stars’ celebrations during PSL match | Cricket News

Pakistan’s legendary cricket team captain Wasim Akram slammed Abdullah Shah during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 match between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United on Thursday. A “silent” celebration for Abdullah Shafique. Abdullah made a quick catch at the first slip and celebrated by putting his fingers over his mouth to “shut up the critics”. However, Akram was not happy with his celebration and went on to say that he should “work in the theater industry”.

“No doubt the catches are great but who is to blame for conceding 36 catches in Australia’s Test series? Who is to blame for that? Abdullah should be working in the theater industry not the cricket industry,” he said in sports.

Meanwhile, with time running out and lack of options, the Pakistan Cricket Board has approached three foreign coaches in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to see if they are interested in coaching the country at least until next year’s ICC Champions Trophy Team.

A reliable source in the PCB said the board has held preliminary talks with Australian all-rounder Shane Watson (Quetta Gladiators), New Zealander Mike Hesson (Islamabad United) and West Indian Phil Simmons (Karachi) to determine whether any of them would be interested in a coaching contract.

“Preliminary talks have been held but it is too early to tell whether they are interested as at least two of them have previously held positions in other leagues,” the source said.

New PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that he wants to appoint a foreign coaching staff for Pakistan team’s upcoming assignments, including the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy.

But given the PCB’s poor reputation in dealing with foreign and local coaches and support staff, high-profile coaches are wary of signing contracts with the Pakistan team.

“Yes, it is a problem, especially after Zakhar Ashraf (former chairman) forced Mitch Arthur, Grant Bradburn and other foreign coaches to chase the World Cup,” the source said.

“The way Misbah ul Haq, Waqar Younis, Muhammad Hafeez were evicted are examples.” Another issue, he said, is that most top coaches now have contracts with teams in many leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League.
