Dhaka, Bangladesh (AP) – a Bangladesh Officials said the Air Force training aircraft crashed in a school premises in the capital Dhaka, soon after the takeoff, at least 19 people, including the pilot, died and more than 100 were injured, the officials said.
According to the army and a fire officer, Chinese -made F -7 BGI aircraft, in the neighborhood, in the afternoon, crashed in the premises of Milestone School and the college, as the students were participating in classes.
The army said that Jet left local time at 1:06 pm and crashed immediately, caught fire immediately. The reason was not immediately clear.
It is the most deadly airplane accident in the Bangladeshi capital in a recent memory.
Local media indicated that most were injured students. Relatives panicked on the spot as rescuers, using a tricycle rickshaw or whatever was available, the injured were taken to local hospitals.
A desperate scene came out as an accident.
Local residents and rescue teams took the injured students into their lap, while the concerned parents fled Fantically. A father rolled in his arms with his daughter. A mother cried, found her young child, but strict in search of her elder.
Interim leader of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus Expressing his deep grief over a “heart -wrenching accident” at Milestone School and College, he pledged to an inquiry into the accident.
In a statement, he faced “irreparable” loss by “Air Force personnel, students, parents, staff and others,” called “a moment of deep national grief”.
Rafiq Taha, a student who was not present at the time of the accident, told The Associated Press by phone that the school provides classes from primary to twelfth grade, with some 2,000 students.
“I was nervous watching the video on TV,” said 16 -year -old. “My God! This is my school.”
