Indore, Oct 29 (IANS) In an effort to expedite justice while respecting the ongoing commitments of the victims, Madhya Pradesh Police in Indore is waiting for the court’s order to proceed in the Australian women cricketers molestation case.
The statements of the victims have not been recorded yet. He is currently camping in Mumbai. There were reports that the police would send him the video link.
Asked whether the police will send them video links to record their statements or have already recorded their statements, a senior officer told IANS: “The accused is in judicial custody and the case is still sub-judice. Whatever order the court gives, we will have to follow it.”
Two Australian women cricketers were allegedly molested in Indore while they were walking to a cafe from the hotel where they were staying.
The main accused, Akil Khan, a 28-year-old local delivery executive with a prior criminal record, has been in judicial custody since Monday after a two-day police interrogation.

The unidentified players, part of the touring Australian contingent staying at a premium hotel, were heading to a nearby café when Khan allegedly followed them on his motorcycle, made lewd advances and touched one of them inappropriately.
Bystanders intervened, one of whom noted down the registration number of his bike, leading to his capture in Azadnagar in a six-hour strategic operation involving technical surveillance and intelligence.
Initially claiming that he had merely tried to take a selfie with “famous cricketers”, Akil later confessed to following them after seeing both of them while walking home after dropping his father at the Sathya Sai intersection.
An FIR was lodged at the MIG police station under sections 74 (assault or criminal force intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 78 (stalking) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). Police seized her two-wheeler and exposed Khan’s history as a “history-sheeter” with pending cases, including prior harassment complaints.
Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the “inappropriate touching” in a statement, with Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) officials praising team security manager Danny Simmons for immediately alerting authorities.
Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association president Mahanaryaman Scindia expressed deep grief, calling it “painful for the sporting world and our city”.
The incident has caused a political stir, with the opposition criticizing the state government for “security lapses”, calling it a “shameful stain” on India’s global image. The Mohan Yadav government responded to the criticism with prompt arrest of the accused.
